The day NIKKI SIXX died… almost

That night, December 23rd, 1987 he went out with Robbin Crosby of Ratt, Slash of Guns N’ Roses and David Ellefson of Megadeth for a cocaine-fueled evening. After returning to the Franklin Plaza Hotel, Sixx had their dealer inject him with a dose of heroin that nearly ended his life.

Sixx overdosed on heroin and was reportedly declared clinically dead for two minutes before a paramedic revived him with two syringes full of adrenaline.

“No one’s going to die in my fucking ambulance,” Sixx recalls the paramedic saying in the Mötley Crüe autobiography The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.

The bassist wandered shirtless into the hospital parking lot, where two crying fans found him and gave him a lift home.

According to former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, it was him not paramedics that saved Nikki.

Reportedly Adler dragged Sixx into the shower with his broken hand on which there was a cast. After showering the musician with cold water, Adler slapped him in the face with his cast which resulted in Sixx waking up.

Maybe he did and maybe he didn’t but the best part of the story is Nikki Sixx never died and continued to perform and write music.

And the rest is This Day in Metal” history!!!
