Megaforce records founder Jonny Z has passed away.

Sadly Jonny Z co-founder of Megaforce records has passed away just nearly thirteen months after his wife Marsha’s death.

After hearing the demo tape No Life ‘Til Leather, he founded the label Megaforce Records to release their work.

Zazula helped Metallica’s career and produced their debut album “Kill ‘Em All”

After the success of Kill ‘Em All, Zazula signed and worked with other artists including: Overkill, Testament, Fozzy, and Anthrax.

Reaction is pouring in from the Metal community.

“I’m so happy we had the times we had and that the last words we said to each other was ‘I LOVE YOU,'” stated Anthrax’s Charlie Benante in his tribute.

Sad to hear that Jonny Z, a massive legend in the metal world, has passed away. RIP Mr Z. (Geezer Butler)

So sad to hear of the passing of Jon Zazula. He was east coast and I was west coast in the early days of metal. He worked with so many amazing bands #ripjonzazula (Brian Slagel)

RIP to my old dear friend Jonny Z. Condolences to his friends and family. (Lips)

RIP a true giant of metal…. and a man that changed our lives… rest easy Mr.Z…… (Raven)

I will forever be grateful for your friendship, advice, and blind belief that the music we played could be shared with way more people who were just like us…outsiders, and misfits!Rest In Peace, my friend. (Lars Ulrich)

In 2019, Zazula released an auto-biography titled Heavy Tales.
