Opium Death is a brutal concoction of extreme metal, sent forth from the suburbs of Chicago, USA to lay waste to metalheads around the world with their first full-length album “Genocidal Nemesis”, which is being unleashed on April 19th.
The last man standing and longest serving member of Technical Melodic Death Metal band AllegaeonGreg Burgess has a chat with Lindsay whilst they’re on tour with Omnium Gatherum. They chat about Greg‘s influences, why the Trombone never worked out for him, 6th studio album DAMNUM and the history behind the band and their strange name.
Greg says on the different writing process of this record: “This album, everybody kinda wanted to be more involved. I think what happened was our stylistic differences had kind of moved in two different directions. So we didn’t want it to sound like “oh, that’s definitely his song and that’s definitely his song.” We kinda wanted to make it one cohesive vision. The guys wanted to change that and I went along with it begrudgingly, I’m the old man, I don’t like difference! It was like going back to Primary School, I had to learn to share!”
