In honor of Narcotic Wasteland guitarist Dallas Toler Wade's birthday, coinciding with the 10-year anniversary of their self-titled debut album, the band is summoning fans to a series of skull-shattering parties throughout their tour.
After the breakup of Pantera, Dimebag and his inseparable brother, Vinnie Paul formed the band Damageplan, with Patrick Lachman on vocals and Bob Zilla on bass.
Their first and only studio album was released on February 10, 2004.
Unlike the already known Pantera sound, Damageplan played with sounds from various subgenres ranging from the already known Pantera groove metal, thrash, alternative and industrial metal. An album whose mix of subgenres resulted in a fresh and powerful work from beginning to end, the undeniable style of the Abbott brothers in their respective instruments and compositions is incredible.
Damageplan was not trying to be a kind of Pantera 2.0, but their aim was to create their own sound and style, which we can appreciate in songs like Pride with some good alternative dyes, which happen to burst our ears at the time of the chorus, songs like Fuck You that seem to be taken from Pantera’s The Great Southern Trendkill and the powerful melodies that accompany Lachman’s chorus in Save Me.
Patrick Lachman’s powerful and youthful vocals add to the album. Unfortunately we could not have more material of this great band since months later a madman would finish with Dimebag’s life, precisely during the tour of promotion of the album.
New Found Power is an excellent work that allows you to enjoy different subgenres without getting stuck in just one.
