On this day in metal in 1983, Cliff Burton played his first show with Metallica

March 5th, 1983

So we all know this story right? How Lars and James first seen Cliff with his band Trauma playing at the “Whisky A-Go-Go”.

After hearing the bass solo that would later become the instrumental piece “Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)” both James and Lars were stunned!

James and Lars were amazed by Cliff’s playing and offered for him to join Metallica immediately.

Here’s the problem though. Cliff was from San Francisco and the deal was he would only join the band if they moved there.

The band agreed and this is what gave birth to the historic performance at the “Stone” Club. And the rest is this day in metal history!!

Did you know this also happened to be Kirk Hammett’s last show with Exodus!
