The Songs
- The Warning. Instrumental piece. Angelical choirs, that mixed with synth sounds and some metalcore screams in the back.
- Weaponized. The proper start of the album, and it’s a direct punch to your gut. Metalcore growls with Alex’s softer voice to equilibrate it.
- Oscillator. A lot of electronic elements here, that reminded me a bit of Wage War’s latest album (in a good way). Perfect combination.
It And it has a super catchy chorus. I’ve been singing to myself Alex’s part all day. About internal struggles.
- Doomswitch. A very emotional song lyrically, feelings of isolation. Yet the song is super heavy. Love the slow-down of the pace nearly at the end, that helps to paint the theme of this track.
- Mana God. A super heavy from the start. Sean voice is verging on deathcore here, at times. Alex’s growls and screaming “f…” here are also amazing. Super heavy track. Feeling of oppression of the tyranny of our authorities. No clean vocals here, only power.
- Epitaph. It begins with a horror film vibe, and then the instruments and growls dropped.
This was the first song I listened of this band, when this single came up around April. I immediately fell in love with Alex’s voice, so sweet.
I’ve always been a sucker for the bands that uses male growls at the same time that a melodic female voice. So, with this started my journey with this band, and even though I listened some of their older stuff. But this album is beyond comparison, and for me, it’s a serious candidate to be on my list of Album of the Year (so stay tuned for that).
- No Hard Feelings. For me, this is a colossal power ballad (I wouldn’t just call it a power ballad because of its intensity). Here we can enjoy Alex’s beautiful voice most of the song. About relationship problems.
- Venusian Blues. Heavy track, as almost as the rest of the album, but with one added piece, a male clean voice in the chorus, provided by Sean, that sounds super cool, it gave it another vibe to the song.
- Ghost of Me. Nice track with different styles, it even has a pop vibe (at times). Feelings of resentment and anger. Alex’s isolated voice was a nice touch.
- Tether. A progressive metal track, djent, guitar, keys, bass, and drums started spectacular with a middle eastern sound, that continues throughout the track.
- Small Town Syndrome. Another heavy track, with a beautiful and calm musical ending. Nice way to end the album, that was short and sweet.
In general, a very eclectic album that leads more on the super heavy side, but also electronic elements, cool guitar riffs, interesting keyboards, Sean growls and Alex’s soft voice.
Breakdowns, intensity, versatility.
