Concert Review: Four Genres Collide for One Tour: Five Finger Death Punch/ Marilyn Manson

Four different genres come together to play the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA on September 6th 2024. The show starts with The Funeral Portrait setting the tone for the evening. For their first arena tour, it didn't seem like this was their first rodeo. Although the arena wasn't packed yet, they didn't disappoint.  They are a high energy band that made sure you remembered who they were by the end of their set. This a band to keep your eye out for. Big things will be coming their way.

First Band: The Funeral Portrait

Next up was Russian Deathcore band Slaughter To Prevail. Anyone who knows who Alex Terrible is knows he has a unique stage presence. They had a short set of 30 minutes being one of the openers, but started out strong with 'Bonebreaker' which made the crowd go insane. During 'Viking' and the intro to 'Baby Yaga' he did include a backing track playing part of his vocals instead of him singing live. It wouldn't be a Slaughter To Prevail show if Alex didn't slam his mic against his head during 'Viking.' The energy they have on stage is unreal and worth watching.

Second Band: Slaughter To Prevail

Second to last playing was Marilyn Manson, you can tell he came there to prove he still has it, doing this tour and coming back was personal for him. This is his first since 2019's Twins of Evil: Hell Never Dies Tour and he started his set with 'We Know Where You Fucking Live.' This setlist is a perfect example of playing a mixture of hits to newer songs from his last few releases. Manson plays new track 'As Sick As the Secrets Within' and debuts two new members of his band; Bassist Piggy D (ex-Rob Zombie) and Guitarist Reba Myers (Code Orange). I have seen him a handful of times and this has been the best performance and line up he has had. What I loved about this set is how consistent his energy was for the whole show.

Headlining the show was Five Finger Death Punch who never need an introduction. They are one of those bands that bring high energy to every live performance. Front-man Ivan Moody has always been one the crowd stays hyped for. They start their set with 'Welcome to the Circus.' One thing I can tell you, when that riff hit, the fans went insane. From touring as often as they do, their set is one of the tightest sets. When they played 'Jekyll and Hyde' it was really cool seeing all the fans singing it word for word along with 'Far From Home' which was partially performed acapella. Five Finger Death Punch are always a great live band to end the night with.
