Wait!! Bon Jovi a headliner over bands like Dio and Metallica? Yes that's true! You have to remember Bon Jovi was huge in 1987. They were riding high with their multi platinum album "Slippery When Wet".

Though i wasn't there that day from what i've been told it was crazy. 80,000 plus rock and metal fans standing in the pissing rain watching their favourite bands perform.

As part of the encore, Bon Jovi was joined on stage by Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Paul Stanley (KISS) and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden). At the end Bruce saluted the crowd with a "see ya next year", which indicated that Iron Maiden were in line to play the following years Donington.
