EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ICE T TALKS ABOUT BODY COUNT’S UPCOMING ALBUM “MERCILESS”

What a pleasant surprise when the other day I got the opportunity to interview Body Count's singer Ice T.

The band is releasing their 5th album "Merciless" on November 22nd on century media. You can pre-order it below:

Having followed Body Count pretty much since their formation I had lots of questions to ask him. Body Count formed in 1990 by Ice T and Ernie C from their passion for Heavy Metal music. Ice loved listening to Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.

The current lineup includes Ice-T, Ernie C., and Sean E Sean, joined by bassist Vincent Price, drummer Will “Ill Will” Dorsey, Juan “Juan of the Dead” Garcia, and backing vocalist Little Ice.

I was a little afraid to ask him some questions but honestly this guy is down to earth and cool to chat with which made me relaxed and really enjoyed it.

It has been about 4 years since the bands last album "Carnivore" for which the band won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song "Bum-Rush".

I asked Ice about the band covering Pink Floyd's classic "Comfortably Numb" and how Pink Floyd agreed to it.

Ice goes on to say "First they tried contacting the publishing company for Pink Floyd who replied "Absolutely not they don't do covers". So then we try Gilmore's manager who happens to be a cool mother f'er and got David's approval.

David and Roger don't see eye to eye but I got to get approvals from both of them. They contact Roger Waters and he approves it. Ice has been able to get people that couldn't agree in 25 years to agree on something that's crazy". Not only that Gilmour appears in the video for the song.

I also asked him about collaborating with other metal musicians. They come to me he said so having the likes of Geroge "Corpsegrinder" Fisher on "Purge" and "Drug Lords" featuring Max Cavalera was simple.

Also the song "Psychopath" features Joe Bad who happens to also appear in the video for it.

Whatever you think about Ice he speaks and says whats on his mind about society and things happening in the world and talks about it in his lyrics. He's also a huge fan of horror movies so some songs come naturally for him.

A new video for the song "Merciless" is going to be released soon so stay tuned for it.
