Metalhead Marv’s Top 10 Albums of 2023

So many albums to pick this year!! Saying that i need to expand my metal taste in music and start listening to newer metal bands. My friend finally got me listening to bands like In Flames. Heck i'm even going to a Meshuggah concert this Friday. I'm more into listening to older metal bands like Metallica and Metal Church. Hopefully it will change in the future and here's my picks for this year!

10. 𝐃𝐎𝐊𝐊𝐄𝐍 - 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐍

Who? That's right Dokken came back this year with a new album and it rocks! Dokken was famous in the 80's with albums such as "Tooth and Nail" and "Back for the Attack". Check out songs like the "Fugitive" and "Gypsy" off the new album. Jon Levin shreds it on guitar!

9. 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑 - 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃

75 year old Alice Cooper is still going strong after five decades in the music business.

Not as great as his previous albums but the album still delivers. Check out the songs "I'm Alice" and "Welcome to the Show".

Cooper brings back former guitarist Kane Roberts on the song "Dead Don't Dance".

8. 𝐒𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐈 - 𝐁𝐎𝐌𝐁𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐒

Canadian rockers Sven Gali return with a killer new album "Bombs and Battlescars". Check out the songs "Coming Home" and "Monster".

The band is best known for the songs "Tie Dyed Skies" and "Under The Influence".

The album also features a cover of the Triumph classic "Spellbound" which features a video with drummer Gil Moore.

7. 𝐔.𝐃.𝐎. - 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐍

Does Udo ever slow down? Seems like every year he has a new album coming out. Nothing wrong with that though as his new album "Touchdown" is a good album.

Check out the songs "Fight For The Right" and "Isolation Man".

6. 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀 - 𝟕𝟐 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒

All i want from this band is another great album like "Master of Puppets" before they retire. That isn't much to ask is it?

Check out the songs "72 Seasons" and "Screaming Suicide".

To be honest i hardly ever listen to this album. Just be thankful it's not "St. Anger"

5. 𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐎 - 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 - 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐃

Doro, Heavy Metal's "Metal Queen" is back again with her 14th album.

Check out the songs "Children Of The Dawn" and "I Will Prevail"

She does an amazing cover of Judas Priest's "Living After Midnight", which she performs with Rob ‘The Metal God’ Halford.

4. 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋 - 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃

Overkill never disappoints and again i always seem to place any new Overkill album in my Top Ten Metal albums of the year.

Vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth shows no signs of slowing down. Check out the songs "Wicked Place" and "The Surgeon".

3. 𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒 - 𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐎

The band features Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner and vocalist Ronnie Romero.

Check out the songs "Blind Leading The Blind" and  "Do Or Die".

2. 𝐊𝐊'𝐒 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒𝐓 - 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍

Even though K.K. wishes he could return to Judas Priest he has delivered a really good album. Back on vocals again is the amazing Tim "Ripper" Owens.

Check out the songs "One More Shot at Glory" and "Sons of the Sentinel".

1. 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐇 - 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

The band could've retired with a nice catalog of music but decided to march on with a new singer Marc Lopes.

The band delivers an outstanding album and you must check out the songs "Pick a God and Prey" and "Making Monsters".

YESTERDAY , TODAY, EVERYDAY HEAVY METAL!! 🤘🏻👍👊
