Featuring five explosive tracks, it captures the essence of Pythonic's evolution over the years. From the politically charged opener “Positive Deconstruction” to the epic closing track “Epica”, the EP offers a powerful listening experience that reflects the band's journey and growth.
What does a crowd of pleasant, Scottish metalheads do on an unassuming Monday evening? Attend a sold-out Machine Head show apparently. Following their blistering performance at this year's "Mudload/Drownload" thanks to the good old fashioned British weather), the heavy metal titans travelled North of the Wall for a one off show in Glasgow, Scotland before they embarked on their summer European Festival run with support coming from local Glaswegian metalcore/alt-metal band The Colony.
Machine Head used their Download Festival set list as the framework for this show however considering this was a headlining night and not a scheduled festival slot, they fleshed this set list out with extra bangers and even a tour debut with the performance of 'Take My Scars.' Surprisingly, they opened with 'Imperium' which was not only completely flawless but it set the energetic and aggressive tone for the rest of the show.
The band threw out banger after banger. 'Davidan,' 'From This Day,' 'Old,' 'Halo,' 'Aesthetics of Hate,' 'Is There Anybody Out There,' 'Bulldozer,' 'Slaughter The Martyr.' The set list was incredibly solid and despite the venue being a sweaty fart box of a furnace, both the band and the crowd did not slow down. The energy was immense, the atmosphere was electrifying and the sound was perfect. Machine Head are one of those bands who continue to please to the highest standard; the gift that keeps on giving.
The crowds were united, bodies were flying everywhere, the pits were explosive and the roof was blown off with chants, screams and singing. Especially when the crowd began to chant "NO SCOTLAND NO PARTY" because of course the UEFA European Football Championships made their appearance much to the band's entertainment; and yes, they joined in. The gratitude and the absolute joy emanated strongly from the stage and it was clear to see Machine Head were in their element. One of the best live acts to grace the metal scene which continues to gather strength and momentum the more the Machine plows on. Definitely grab the chance to see them live when they pass through your country or city, you're in for one hell of a night.
