Megadeth, Sepultura and Obituary Members Release Benefit Track For Endangered Howler Monkeys In Costa Rica

Last year, non-profit organisation Savage Lands was launched by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and musician/activist Sylvain Demercastel. Their goal is to help finance and assist reforestation and forest preservation efforts in Costa Rica. They were inspired to do so after seeing the threats to the ecosystem that continued development in the region posed first-hand.

They have now teamed up with Season Of Mist to put out music specifically intended to benefit that cause. “The Last Howl” is the first track to be released through the partnership and finds the duo joined by Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser and Obituary vocalist John Tardy, along with Black Bomb A veterans Poun on vocals and Etienne Treton on bass.

100% of the royalties from the song will go directly towards the cause. The song is inspired by a loss of habitat being faced by howler monkeys amid deforestation and human expansion in Costa Rica. Donations to the cause can be made directly via savagelands.org.
