The forthcoming Spinal Tap sequel has announced an expanded cast. As it turns out, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Lars Ulrich (Metallica) will attempt to survive the infamous Spinal Tap drummer's curse.
The cast features a mix of familiar faces, such as Fran Drescher bringing back her role as the band's publicist, Bobbi Flekman. Additional cast members will include John Michael Higgins, Jason Acuña, Don Lake, Nina Conti, Griffin Matthews, Kerry Godliman, Chris Addison, Brad Williams, and Paul Shaffer.
The film also includes cameos from music icons such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, Questlove, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood.
Specific details about the plot are undisclosed, but it's expected to center around the band reuniting for a final concert, drawing inspiration from the classic band documentary, "The Last Waltz."
From what director Rob Reiner has said, the plot centers around director Marty DeBergi's effort to reconcile the band's grievances after the release of the original This Is Spinal Tap movie.
Reiner explained:
“When it was announced that Spinal Tap would reunite for one final concert, Marty DeBergi saw this as a chance to make things right with the band who viewed This is Spinal Tap as a hatchet job.”
