Looking For The Endtime Signals: An Interview with Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquility
One of the bands that were torchbearers of the melodic death metal sound (dubbed "The Gothenburg Sound") is Sweden's Dark
Tenacious D have cancelled their Australian and New Zealand tour dates half way through the tour after guitarist Kyle Gass made an apparent joke about Donald Trump's assassination attempt whilst on stage.
Gass was presented with a birthday cake on stage to celebrate his 64th birthday and when Black asked him to make a wish, he responded with "don't miss Trump next time."
The assassination attempt on Former President Trump had occurred just hours prior to this statement when his ear was hit by a passing bullet whilst one attendee was sadly killed and another two were critically injured.
An Australian senator has called for the Australian Immigration Minister Andrew Giles to 'revoke visas and deport them immediately' following the apparent joke made on stage.
Black has now issued a statement on his Instagram page:
“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
Gass has also issued a statement on his own Instagram account:
"The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”
