This Day in Metal: August 26th 1969 Earth changes their name to BLACK SABBATH

On This Day in Metal, August 26th 1969 Earth changes their name to Black Sabbath and the rest is Heavy Metal history!

The band comprised of Tony lommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler and Ozzy Osbourne reportedly came up with the new name when the movie cinema across the road from their recording studio was showing the horror film Black Sabbath.

Tony lommi has only recently rejoined the band after a short stint with rock band Jethro Tull.

On August 30th the band will perform their first live show under the name Black Sabbath in Workington, England.
