Greek guitarist and founder of the Greek/Swedish Melodic Death Metal band Nightrage Marios Iliopoulos chats with Lindsay about how Iron Maiden are one of his biggest influences, his first guitar, touring memories and the concept of Dante’s Inferno as inspiration for their new album ‘Abyss Rising;’ the final chapter of a conceptual trilogy.
Mario says: “Our singer, Ronnie Nyman he’s writing the lyrics and when he started writing this theme two albums before with The Venomous, he didn’t realise this will take a lot of ground and it’s gonna take us like, 3 albums almost to cover and finish this concept. But on ‘Abyss Rising’ like I said, it’s the third chapter, it’s the fact as humanity we are already in the hell we have created for ourselves and there’s no turning back and we’re done as humanity. It’s loosely inspired from Dante’s Inferno because he’s also having to go through these different levels on hell in his own story.“
