Deceased - Children Of The Morgue
Genre: Death/Thrash Metal
FFO: Possessed, Autopsy, Master, Necrophagia, Rigor Mortis, Death
Rating: 8/10

Long-standing US Death Metal band Deceased have returned with quite possibly one of their darkest albums yet. Children Of The Morgue pushes the boundaries of death infused thrash metal with a theme of horror and elements of old school heavy metal. Utilising their entire arsenal of a discography into one fiery record, you can expect fast paced thrash, crushing death, mid-tempo stomps and slow paced, knuckle-dragging heaviness. Not to mention the array of extreme riffage, screaming solos and dark, rasping vocals. This record is equal parts melodic and moody but regardless, it's addictive, bouncy, dark and a lot of fun to listen to. Almost 40 years into their career and Deceased are proving that they are, in fact, very much alive.

Wintersun - Time II
Genre: Symphonic Melodic Death Metal
FFO: Atavistia, Children Of Bodom, Ensiferum, Brymir, Sodomisery, Nuclear Winter
Rating: 10/10

The highly anticipated and long-awaited sequel to 2012's Time has finally been released in a blaze of symphonic glory. With heavy elements of traditional Eastern instrumentation and influences combined with the trademark Wintersun sonic soundscape, Time II has proven to be worth the wait. Grandiose in nature, operatically opulent with killer riffs, flying solos, thunderous blast-beats and a combination of powerfully soaring cleans and devastating roars, Time II will leave you craving more.

Anciients - Beyond The Reach Of The Sun

FFO: Opeth (early), Mastodon, Enslaved, Baroness, Ihsahn
Rating: 8/10

After 8 years of silence, Anciients are back with a new line-up, a new album and a new vigour for all things progressive metal. Intricately detailed guitarwork, dynamic time signatures, plenty of flying solos and a mix of smooth, otherworldly clean vocals and devastating roars results in a multi-layered and heartfelt record. The power and the energy behind Beyond The Reach Of The Sun is intoxicating. Combining elements of their previous two records with the addition of haunting keyboard elements, this new offering is refined, atmospheric, addictive and deliciously heavy.

Deliver The Galaxy - Bury Your Gods
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
FFO: Words Of Farewell, Dark Tranquillity, Kataklysm, In Flames
Rating: 7/10

This Melodic Death Metal band from the heart of Germany have taken massive inspiration from the Scandinavian Melodic Death Metal scene but added a twist of otherworldly topics and the idea that extraterrestrial life forms may have visited Earth in the past. This lyrical and musical exploration of a fascinating topic takes the listener on an adventurous journey. Melodically rich riffs and solos, desperately rasping vocals and rolling blast-beats create a sonic landscape of groove and addictive yet harsh harmonies with the occasional BLEURGH thrown in. A fun record with an air of darkness.
