  1. Dark Tranquillity - Endtime Signals
    Genre: Melodic Death Metal
FFO: In Flames, At The Gates, Omnium Gatherum, The Halo Effect
    Rating: 10/10

Dark Tranquillity are one of the forerunners of the Melodic Death Metal genre, specifically the Gothenburg sound/style alongside In Flames and At The Gates. Over 30 years later with a solid discography under their belts, the legends are back with their thirteenth studio album Endtime Signals. Equal parts heavy and emotive with various layers of progressive elements, haunting synths and a well balanced blend of clean and harsh vocals. Utilising their history to create an 'all-rounder' of a record, Endtime Signals is one of Dark Tranquillity's strongest albums to date.

2. Ne Obliviscaris - Citadel (10th Anniversary Edition Remaster)
Genre: Extreme Progressive Metal
FFO: Opeth (early), Enslaved, An Abstract Illusion, Persefone
Rating: 7.5/10

Pronounced "Nay Ob-li-vis-kar-is," the band formed in 2003 and have reliably churned out progressively beautiful and complex soundscapes ever since. Celebrating the 1oth anniversary of Citadel, Ne Obliviscaris have released a remastered version of their iconic second record. A timeless record in its own right, this remastered version however gives it a breath of fresh life, creating a crisper and more prominent sound, successfully capturing the magic and sonic intrigue that the band are masters at crafting. Dramatic orchestration, emotive violin, crushing progressive heavy metal, intricate guitars and a combination of soaring clean vocals and devastating gutteral growls and roars.

3. Extinction A.D - To The Detested
Genre: Thrash/Groove/Hardcore
FFO: Pantera, Testament, Machine Head, Municipal Waste, Slayer
Rating: 8/10

Straight up, no nonsense, 80s era thrash/90s era groove metal with a sprinkling of hardcore elements. To The Detested is overflowing with serious attitude and frantic energy on a foundation of catchy hooks, mid-tempo stomps and intense ferocity. Special guest Matt Heafy of Trivium makes an appearance on the track 'Impervious (Unrepentant)' whereas the track 'Burnt Sienna' switches the vibe up with a homage to vocalist Rick Jimenez's Puerto Rican roots. If you're looking for 90s era slamming groove metal mixed in with 80s thrash complete with screaming guitars and thunderous energy, look no further.

4. Cobranoid - Cobranoid
Genre: Thrash/Doom/Sludge
Rating: 7/10
FFO: Motorhead, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Crowbar

Heavy basslines and sludgy doom/thrash/groove infused riffs are prevalent throughout this entire record yet still maintain an addictive and catchy edge. The vocal style is rough and blues-esque and the drums are thunderous and rhythmical. A swinging sledgehammer of ferocious heavy metal with the added aggression of thrash metal and the ominous darkness of doom metal.
