Metallica's Website and Social Media Accounts Under Attack By Crypto Scammers

Recently, Metallica's website and social media accounts have come under attack by hackers in order to promote a Solana-based crypto token with the ticker "METAL."

The first post appeared on the band's Twitter/X account on June 26th as seen below. They even went as far as to mention Ticketmaster and MoonPay collaborations to make it appear more official.

MoonPay's director Keith Grossman confirmed that they have no official involvement:

"MoonPay DOES NOT support METAL"

The post detailed how users could cash in their METAL tokens to redeem gig tickets and exclusive merchandise such as an Xbox Series X signed by Metallica. The band have yet to issue a response over the matter.

The posts have since been deleted and Metallica's social media accounts have been restored however at the time of posting this article, their website has mysteriously been taken down
